My word for this year is ‘#BOSSBABE’.
A boss babe to me is someone who “owns it” – it may be her career, her finances, her studies, her relationships etc.
A boss babe is in control without losing herself in the process.
A boss babe is good (or at least trying) with work-life balance.
The year has just started and people are still on to achieving their new year’s resolutions if they haven’t given up already.
If you’re with me on this, listen up because I’ll give you 5 boss babe habits to adopt in 2018 and beyond, even.
Set Goals and Write them down
Thinking about goals is something, but writing them down is waaaaayyyy better!
Dr. Gail Matthews, a psychology professor at the Dominican University in California did a study on this.
She found out that you become 42% more likely to achieve your goals and dreams, simply by writing them down on a regular basis.
This has something to do with how our brains work.
As you may know, your brain has a left and a right hemisphere.
The wide, flat bundle of neural fibers that connects the two hemispheres is called the corpus callosum.
This is the conduit through which the electrical signals between the right brain, which is imaginative, and the left brain, which is literal, make contact.
These electrical signals then move into the fluid that surrounds the brain and travels up and down the spinal column.
These signals then communicate with every fiber, cell and bone in our body… to the consciousness that operates within us to transform our thoughts into reality.
It allows us to align our frequency to a life we would love living. – Huffington Post
Think of it this way, when you don’t have a plan then you don’t know how you will reach your destination.
You can’t just say, “oh, I will travel tomorrow!” but you don’t know WHERE or HOW.
You won’t even reach your destination because you don’t know the basics.
Moreover, many successful people like Tony Robbins, Jack Canfield (co-author of Chicken Soup for the Soul series); boss babe Marie Forleo (my idol, teehee! ), a life and business coach, just to name a few swear by this method.
You’ve determined your goals and have written them down – it’s now time to take action.
I admit that I sometimes lack in this department when it comes to my blog and YouTube channel but I’m working on it.
I also watch a lot of motivational and how-to videos that I find myself getting drowned on it sometimes (like, excessively!); it hampers me from taking action in achieving my goals.
That’s not how to live life people! (this is also a note to myself)
Self-care is what keeps us sane. When you’re always working, always on the go, you’ll burn out easily.
And when you’re burned out, you get unmotivated to do anything – you lose your temper quickly or worse, you lose your mind!
I did a video about self-care and some tips on how to go about it.
What about perspectives?
According to German philosopher Friedrich Nietzche, ” There are no facts, only interpretations.”
There are no failures, only experiences that we can learn from.
Thomas Edison became famous because of the light bulb but it took him a while to create the one that actually worked.
He has this famous quote, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”
As a boss babe, it is imperative that you have the right perspective on things in order for you to succeed in whatever that you’re trying to achieve in life.
I have tried a lot of business ventures since I was in college, most of them didn’t work out for me – but hey! I’m still here.
Still busting it off to finally get me to my end goal – create a thriving business that I’m uberly passionate about while helping people achieve their goals.
I mean, I could have just easily thrown in the towel and went back to having a 9-5 job with the amount of failed business ventures that I had.
But no, I have a vision.
If that’s not boss babe then I don’t know what that is!
Learn how to switch up how you view things and you’ll greatly benefit from it.
Never Stop Learning
Self-growth is key to living a fulfilling life and having a successful career.
One of the best things about life is that we never have to stop learning. There are always new skills to learn and techniques for us to adopt.
Successful people in the world know this.
Warren Buffet, one of my favorite business tycoons, spends most of his time reading.
From daily newspapers to books, to business magazines – you name it!
The best entrepreneurs in the world don’t act like they know everything.
They know that they have to continuously learn to be and stay successful.
